As if WhatsApp could get any more popular, the creators of the instant messaging service have announced a brand new update for iOS packed with new features and a more attractive price.

WhatsApp version 2.10.1 can send multiple photos simultaneously and has a URL scheme support for third-party apps.

Developers can now design their applications to open a WhatsApp Chat with a specific contact by using the custom URL scheme to do so.

Users can now perform iCloud chat history backups and restores via WhatsApp > Settings > Chat Settings > Chat Backup.

Last but not least, WhatsApp is now free to download and use for the first year, after which you’ll only pay a buck (€0.89) annually to use the service uninterrupted.

The good news is that everyone currently on WhatsApp will never have to pay a dime in their life.
