The Twitter-owned Vine is currently the top downloaded free app on the iTunes Store. Vine lets you share life in motion by creating short looping videos which you can share with the world.

Immediately acquired by Twitter after its inception, Vine lets you create short videos (much like GIFs) which can be uploaded for free to Twitter’s servers for followers to see and enjoy.

Sharing options include Twitter and Facebook, and more are on the way in a future update.

Users can find, follow, and interact with people close to them, explore trending posts and featured hashtags, as well as editor's picks.

Vine is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad, and requires iOS 5.0 or later. The app is optimized for iPhone 5.

The application works natively on all iPhone and iPod touch models, but not on iPads (though it is technically supported on tablet computers as well).
