Apple has released a new version of its iPhone Software Development Kit to add support for iOS 4.0.1, the latest incremental update issued by the company for owners of an iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, or iPhone 4.

During a press conference held in Cupertino, California on Friday morning, Apple explained to the attending crowd that iPhone 4 did not have as many issues as believed, but admitted to not being “perfect” either. The company conceded to offer free Bumpers to those who believe are affected by the “death grip” issue, or the “antennagate” syndrome, and mentioned that the newly released iOS 4.0.1 would only include an updated algorithm that makes the phone display signal bars more accurately. Apple emphasized that iPhone 4 did not have a particular reception issue, and tried to demonstrate that other smartphones appear to experience the same issues in similar circumstances.

In tandem with the release of iOS 4.0.1, Apple rolled out iPhone SDK 4.0.1, adding support for new firmware version, as well as other enhancements and tweaks. The full changelog provided by the Mac maker is available below, followed by a download link to the SDK and iOS 4.0.1 IPSW (restore / update file).
