VMware Workstation 6 is the beta build released by VMWare delivering support for the Windows Vista operating system. VMware Workstation 6 beta build 36983 includes support for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista as both host and guest operating system.

VMware Workstation 6 is an open public beta, and Vmware only requires registration in order to hand out a serial key for the product. According toVmware, Workstation 6 beta comes with additional support for 32-bit and 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.5, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0 (Beta), 32-bit and 64-bit SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 SP and 32-bit and 64-bit Solaris 10 Update 3, again as both guest and host operating system with the exception of Solaris 10 Update 3 that can only run as the guest OS.
