The VLC Media Player 2.0.6 binary is finally available for download on Mac OS X, delivering tons of tweaks and fixes, including numerous code corrections specifically aimed at Mac users.

VLC 2.0.6 has long been released for Linux and Windows and, while the Mac installment had also been confirmed a few days ago, a downloadable binary was yet to be made available.

The new VLC is now available for everyone to download and use on their Macs, and you’re probably here to learn what’s new in version 2.0.6.

As usual, a lot of changes have been made in tandem for all platforms, but there is a considerably large number of fixes and tweaks for Mac users only in this new build.

For example, the update fixes a subtitle resolution issue when using OS X's native fullscreen mode, and improves the fullscreen controller time slider with larger click target.

An issue involving the selection of BDMV folders on OS X Mountain Lion has been addressed, alongside a bug which caused the fullscreen panel to stay hidden. Various minor UI drawing issues are patched as well, as are other bugs.
