Download Updated Groove 2007 SP2 SDK

Microsoft has updated the development tools made available for the Groove component of Office 2007, in order to reflect the evolution brought to the table with the release of Service Pack 2. The update version of the Groove 2007 SDK is offered on the Microsoft Download Center since July 21st, 2009. Developers working to enhance Groove 2007 and looking to adapt their creations to the latest iteration of the Office 2007 component now have available for download a refreshed Groove 2007 SDK with SP2 in mind.

“The SDK and the revised Groove Web Services documentation are available on MSDN. The new APIs provide two major capabilities: creating invitations and controlling them from Groove Web Services applications and creating and maintaining invisible workspaces. These features allow your Web Services application to create workspaces that are accessed only through Groove Web Services applications. This allows you to provide your users with a single user interface to access data in the workspace, the one provided by your application. These invisible workspaces are hidden from the user in the Groove Launchbar or the Open Workspace list,” revealed Microsoft's Jim McCoy.

The Redmond company launched Office 2007 SP2 RTM at the end of April 2009. The second service pack for the current version of Microsoft's productivity suite is all that Office users will get this year, unlike Windows customers, who will be able to purchase Windows 7 come October 22nd, 2009. Office 2010, the successor of Office 2007, is in Technical Preview stage at this point in time with the RTM set for the first half of 2010.

“The Microsoft Office Groove 2007 Software Development Kit (SDK) contains documentation, developer samples, and tools to help with Groove Forms and Web Services development,” Microsoft informed. “These release notes are valid for Microsoft Office Groove 2007 SDK with Groove Web Services Version 2.1. Groove Web Services Version 2.1 is available in the 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2).”
