There’s now an easy way to get insight into what Microsoft’s lineup of multi-megapixel digital aerial cameras bring to the table in terms of technical specifications. The Redmond company has made available for download a collection of documents designed to highlight the technical specifications of its UltracamX offerings.

There are no less than four UltracamX Technical Specifications docs available for download via the software giant’s Download Center.

“Microsoft’s Photogrammetry division, Vexcel Imaging GmBH, offers serious mapping solutions for serious mapping projects,” Microsoft stated.

“Our UltraCam family of leading edge, frame-based digital aerial sensors includes the UltraCamXp and UltraCamXp Wide Angle large format cameras, and the UltraCamLp medium format photogrammetric camera.”

The technical Specification resources cover UltraCamL, UltraCamXp, UltraCamLp and UltraCamLp.

Customers can leverage the downloads in order to get a quick overview over the capabilities of Microsoft’s multi-megapixel digital aerial cameras.

The docs cover a variety of areas including Image Product Specification, Digital Camera Technical Data (Sensor Unit S-X), and Operational Specification.

UltraCam-L for example can produce panchromatic images as large as 9,500 * 6600 pixels in both JPEG and TIFF file formats with options for 8 and 16 bits.

By comparison, UltraCam‐Xp can snap pictures of as much as 17,310 * 11,310 pixels, which it can also store as JPEGs or TIFFs.

And of course, there is a range of additional information that customers looking to buy an UltracamX camera are bound to find most interesting.

“Benefitting from the support of the Microsoft legacy in software development, Vexcel Imaging is pleased to offer its UltraMap 2.1 and UltraMap/AT 2.1 workflow software systems,” the Redmond company added.

“Both fully support all UltraCam models and provide a complete and integrated photogrammetric workflow for the large volume of images generated by the UltraCam system.”

The website set up by Microsoft for its subsidiary Vexcel, maker of the UltracamX products, offers additional downloads to potential customers.
