Twitter Inc. is offering up a new version of its microblogging client for iPhone and iPad customers with enhancements in the Search and Discover departments, as well as user-targeted tweets.

According to Twitter Inc., “There’s a lot more to see and enjoy when you visit Discover or search to find out what’s happening.”

The company is now taking your preferences into account to send you “tweets tailored just for you,” which now appear in the stream directly. Said tweets support photo, video, and article previews.

Those who use the search bar a lot will now get a stream of relevant photos at the top of each search result, according to the changelog. Media previews will also show in the results queue.

Account management has been improved as well.

Users who wish to reset their password can do so in a few simple steps now, according to Twitter Inc. Security-wary customers can now manage their follow requests from the iPhone or iPad, if they’ve chosen to protect their tweets.

The 5.1 update further includes “many other improvements and fixes,” according to the microblogging company. “We hope you enjoy it,” says Twitter Inc.

On the official Twitter blog, the company adds, “Keep an eye out as we continue to improve search and Discover so that you can learn about what’s happening around the world, while you’re out in the world.”

Twitter encourages both iOS and Android fans to “get the new apps to see more today.”

Twitter 5.1 for iPhone and iPad is localized in English, Bokmål, Norwegian, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, and Turkish.

The app requires iOS 5.0, meaning all devices from iPhone 3GS and above work. Twitter 5.1 also displays full-screen on the latest Apple gear with 4-inch screens.
