Today, Twitter made available for download a new version of its Android application, so as to mirror some changes that have been made to the service itself.

Owners of devices running under Google’s mobile operating system can now download and install Twitter for Android 3.4 to benefit from the new enhancements.

The application brings along new profiles with header photos, a change that affects the entire microblogging service, including users who do not access it from mobile devices.

“New profiles now feature header photos so you can express who you are more meaningfully on Twitter. Upload an image from your mobile device and see the same beautiful profile design on your phone, tablet or computer,” the company notes in a blog post.

Moreover, the app comes with photo streams, a feature that was meant to provide users with easier access to the entire series of images that a person has posted on Twitter.

“Photo streams for profiles display the images people have shared on Twitter. Whenever you see a photo stream, swipe left or right through the thumbnails or tap to view photos in fullscreen mode. Android users can also get closer to photos with pinch-to-zoom,” the company continues.

However, these are only some of the enhancements that the new application release arrives on devices with. In addition to pinch-to-zoom on photos, the software also brings along search suggestions for people, topics and hashtags.

Twitter also notes that there are a series of improvements brought to the app’s security features, with better protected account management that includes the ability to accept or deny follower requests.

A variety of other enhancements were also included in the new app flavor, as well as fixes and other polishes.

The mobile application is available for download for free and weighs 3.3MB. The application can be downloaded from Softpedia as well, via this link.
