The latest update from Twitter brings the ability to view photos uploaded to the micro-blogging service without having to access additional services, like Twitpic.

“Follow your interests: instant updates from your friends, industry experts, favorite celebrities, and what’s happening around the world. Get short bursts of timely information on the official Twitter for Mac app,” says the development team that coded the Mac version of Twitter.

They’ve published a ridiculously short changelog for such a major update, saying the new Twitter 2.1.1 app allows users to “view photos uploaded to Twitter” and incorporates bug fixes.

However, a quick trip to the official Twitter blog reveals more.

In addition to the completely revamped search function, which delivers more relevant Tweets when you search for something or click on a trending topic, the photos function is explained in great detail:

“Millions of people share photos on Twitter every day. We're going to make that easier than ever. Over the next several weeks, we'll be releasing a feature to upload a photo and attach it to your Tweet right from Twitter.com,” a Twitter official wrote.

The new function will be extended to all of Twitter’s official mobile apps, including those for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

Twitter will reportedly be a part of iOS 5 following a rumored closed deal between the company and Apple to see the microblogging service baked-in the mobile operating system with a focus on image uploading.

Twitter extends a huge thanks to partner Photobucket for hosting the photos.

“For users without smartphones, we're working with mobile carriers around the world so you can also send photos via text message (MMS),” Twitter said. “Share what's happening in your world, anywhere you are.”

The team at Twitter is ecstatic about the new search and photos experiences “and can't wait for you to try them.”

“We believe both make a huge difference in making the world feel even smaller,” Twitter concludes.
