The Intel-only Transmission 2.30 has reached final status on Mac OS X platforms, adding µTP, UDP tracker and Multiscrape support, the ability to remove all completed (finished seeding) transfers, and more.

A popular BitTorrent client also known as one of the best peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing applications, Transmission is licensed under the GNU General Public License, and has select code licensed under the liberal MIT License.

The software features a simple, intuitive interface designed to integrate tightly with Mac OS X. The app seamlessly configures the user’s network, uses protocol encryption, and has built-in Peer Exchange.

Transmission runs natively on over five operating systems and allows you to ration bandwidth efficiently. Users can queue torrents for maximum performance, or throttle their speed during peak periods all from the main interface.

According to those maintaining the software, version 2.30 Final brings the following changes for all supported platforms  · µTP support  · UDP tracker support  · Multiscrape support  · Download scarcest pieces first  · The "lazy bitfield" feature has been superseded by the "Fast Extension" BEP6  · Scripts are passed the environment

A set of exclusive changes for Macintosh users reveals that Transmission 2.30 now works solely on computers with an Intel CPU.

Other changes include the ability to remove all completed (finished seeding) transfers; the Web Interface is published over Wide-Area Bonjour; enhanced grouping rules; and interface tweaks.

GTK+ changes include the addition of a new 256 x 256 icon by Andreas Nilsson and registration as a magnet link handler in the .desktop file. The Web client gains new Peer and Network preferences.

For those wielding a PowerPC Macintosh computer, such as the iMac G4 and G5 models,  versions older than Transmission 2.30 Beta 3 are Universal Binary, therefore they are suitable for both Intel and PCC.
