Apple approved today Tomb Raider: Underworld in the Mac App Store. Mac users running Snow Leopard version 10.6.8 or Lion can download the popular action-adventure video game for $24.99 / 19.99 EUR.

Although the game is far from new, as far as the Mac user base is concerned, this is just another recent addition to their collection of video games. As usual, Lara Croft embarks on a daring expedition to find something that’s important to her.

Feral Interactive, the publisher, reveals the plot: “Archaeologist-adventurer Lara Croft embarks on a daring expedition to find a sunken world deep beneath the Arctic Sea."

"From the crystalline waters of coastal Thailand to the rain-lashed jungles of Mexico and beyond, Lara won’t stop until she has opened its secret gates.

“Her journey pits her against a formidable adversary who is after the same prize, and she will need all her wits, courage and athletic prowess to get to it first.”

“As Lara, players will experience an astonishing level of physical interaction with a beautiful, unpredictable and treacherous world in a platforming game of unparalleled sophistication.”

Lara has new motion-captured moves, including wall-jumping, balancing on poles and dynamic free-climbing. She also has an updated fighting arsenal to take on the usual tigers, sharks and, now, the undead Viking Thralls.

She still has her trusty grapple to swing over chasms, slide down sheer rock cliffs and manipulate mechanical devices. There’s also the Adrenaline Mode which slows down time and allows you to defeat your foes and complete puzzles.

The minimum system requirements are a 1.8 GHz processor, 3GB of RAM, a 128MB graphics card, and around 8GB of free storage. Some graphics cards are not supported, such as the ATI X1xxx series, NVIDIA 7xxx series and the Intel GMA series.
