Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0 Beta 2 is now available for download. The next version of the open source email client includes an array of new features as well as an extensive list of fixed bugs. The Thunderbird 2.0 Beta 2 is a release designed for developers. "Thunderbird 2 Beta 2 is a developer preview release of our next generation Thunderbird email client and is being made available for testing purposes only. Thunderbird 2 Beta 2 is intended for our testing community," reads a fragment of the Thunderbird 2.0 Beta 2 release notes.

Since the release of Thunderbird 1.0, Mozilla informed that the email client was downloaded over 40 million times. Thunderbird 2.0 Beta 2 is available in a variety of languages and offers support for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux i686.

Among the new features introduced with this beta release is the possibility to create message tags for email management. Additionally, Mozilla informed that Thunderbird 2.0 Beta 2 comes with a revamped theme and user interface, Session History Navigation that enables users to navigate through the message history and Folder Views, customization capabilities for the folder pane to show favorite, unread or recent folders.

Thunderbird 2.0 Beta 2 also offers enhanced extension support, offline management and new mail notification alerts. Thunderbird 2.0 Beta 2 users will be able to benefit from the find as you type capabilities of the email client, Folder Summary Popups on mouse over and Saved Search Folder Performance. Improved Filing Tools, updates to the extension system a new Windows Installer and MacOS X Universal Binaries are also among the Thunderbird 2.0 Beta 2's features.
