The New Yorker Magazine for iOS is now a universal application, which means both iPad and iPhone owners can now enjoy the same content on their distinct platforms of choice.

The magazine said, “We’ve finally figured out how to take the weekly print edition of The New Yorker and fold it down to a three-inch size that fits inside your iPhone.” Just like the iPad version, the iPhone app has “every story, every cartoon, every em dash, every illustration, and the new issue is available each Monday,” the magazine added.

To celebrate the launch of the iPhone edition, the August 13 & 20, 2012 issue is free of charge to anyone who downloads the app right now. If you find the content enjoyable, you can then subscribe or buy single issues as they're published, according to Condé Nast Digital, the publisher.

The company asks fans to note that issues published before the August 13 & 20, 2012 issue are not available in the 3.5-inch format.
