TransGaming, Inc. has released The Bureau - XCOM Declassified in the Mac App Store. A science-fiction video game in the XCOM series, The Bureau was developed by 2K Marin.

If you like third-person shooters with an emphasis on squad-based tactics, you’re guaranteed to love The Bureau - XCOM Declassified. Especially if you’re on the Mac (where good games don’t come by so easily).

According to the plot, “The year is 1962. JFK is President and the Cold War has the nation gripped by fear – but a far more powerful and insidious enemy than communism is threatening America.”

You’re special agent William Carter, the guy who calls the shots in a top-secret government unit called The Bureau. Your mission is to investigate and conceal attacks by “an otherworldly enemy.”

“The Bureau’s mission is clear – survive, adapt and overcome the enemy threat to protect the citizens from the truth,” according to the publisher.

TransGaming outlines a series of minimum requirements and recommended requirements. The lowest configuration on which you can play the game is: OS X Lion 10.7.5, Intel Core i series processor, 4GB RAM, 15GB HDD, 512MB video memory (AMD HD4870 / NVIDIA 8800GT).

The recommended requirements are outlined below.

OS: Mac OS X Lion 10.9 or higher Processor: Intel Core i series processor Memory: 4 GB RAM or higher Hard Drive: 15 GB free Video Memory: 1024MB Video Card: AMD HD5870 / Nvidia 650M or better

The publishers also note that you’ll need a “3 button Mouse or Logitech Dual Analog Stick Gamepad,” and that Intel HD Integrated graphics chips are not supported.

Magic Mouse users may be out of luck here, as a third button cannot be found on Apple's touch-centric pointing device.

You’ll need to shell out $34.99 / €30.99 to download The Bureau - XCOM Declassified from the Mac App Store.
