A series of utilities to monitor applications on SQL Azure

A new tool is now available for those in the need of monitoring the performance of software that is running on SQL Azure, namely System Center Monitoring Pack for SQL Azure.

Through the new pack, all the tools needed for verifying the SQL Azure server and database connectivity and for checking on their health information are easily accessible.

The new System Center Monitoring Pack for SQL Azure is easy to use and offers an intuitive setup process. It also comes with a wizard that will help you to discover SQL Azure servers and databases.

In addition to offering info on connectivity status for your SQL Azure server, the pack will deliver details on health, space usage (including free space and allocated quota), and will also be able to track the total number of databases per server.

Not to mention that it delivers info on the performance of the server, including: Average memory per session Total memory per session Total CPU time per session Total I/O per session Number of database sessions Maximum Transaction execution time Maximum Transaction lock count Maximum Transaction log space used Network Egress/Ingress bandwidth

The features that this pack arrives with also include a highly optimized PowerShell based infrastructure designed to efficiently monitor SQL Azure.

At the same time, the System Center Monitoring Pack for SQL Azure was meant to define Custom thresholds for each monitor to configure the warning and critical alerts.

It will also run as profile to securely connect to SQL Azure, and will offer detailed knowledge so that the IT operator will be able to troubleshoot various problems at ease. It also arrives with custom tasks to redirect the user to the SQL Azure online portal.

The new pack requires System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 CU4 or newer and an SQL Azure Subscription.
