The latest release of Mark Russinovich’s Sysinternals Suite arrives as Build 16.02.2012 and brings along updated Coreinfo, DebugView, LiveKd and Process Explorer. The newly updated Windows utilities can be downloaded either as part of the entire Sysinternals Suite, or as stand-alone applications, depending on users’ needs.

The release notes for the new Suite show the following changes:

Coreinfo v3.04: Coreinfo, a tool that dumps information about a system’s processor topology and capabilities, adds a fix for a bug that sometimes misreported the presence of hyperthreading.

DebugView v4.78: This update to DebugView, a utility for capturing and logging user-mode and kernel-mode debug output messages, can now capture output generated by Metro applications on Windows 8.

LiveKd v5.1: LiveKd, a utility for leveraging kernel debuggers to analyze live physical systems or Hyper-V virtual machines, now supports newer Intel processors that implement the XSAVE instruction.

Process Explorer v15.13: This Process Explorer release adds Background priority to the process context menu, which sets the CPU, memory and I/O priorities of a process to low, and includes a bug fix for restoring user-entered process comments.

Coreinfo has been released as a command-line utility that can display the mapping between logical processors and the physical processor, along with other information that it obtains from Windows’ GetLogicalProcessorInformation function.

The DebugView utility was destined to enable people to monitor debug output on their local system, or on any other computer on the network, that can be reached through TCP/IP.

On systems running under Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 and Vista, the app was meant to catch Win32 OutputDebugString, Kernel-mode DbgPrint, and All kernel-mode variants of DbgPrint.

LiveKd is an application that allows people to run Kd and Windbg Microsoft kernel debuggers locally on a live system.

As for Process Explorer, a tool that is being constantly updated with fixes and improvements, it was meant to offer details on the handles and DLLs that different processes opened or loaded.
