Download Star Trek: D-A-C for Mac OS X Now

Paramount Digital Entertainment and TransGaming have announced the immediate availability of Star Trek: D-A-C for Mac OS X. The downloadable, fast-paced, top-down space shooter allows up to 12 players to compete in intergalactic battles between the Starfleet and the Romulan Empire, and costs just $9.95. An Intel Mac is required to enjoy the game, as well as Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or higher.

“The ‘Star Trek’ film and the Star Trek: D-A-C video game were designed to appeal to both long-term fans of the franchise and new enthusiasts alike,” Matt Candler, vice president of Interactive Development of Paramount Digital Entertainment, said. “Given that Star Trek: D-A-C is a fun pick-up-and-play game on any platform, it’s a natural next step for Paramount Digital Entertainment to extend the game to Mac-based fans through this partnership with TransGaming.”

Inspired by the actual remake of Star Trek, the title is described as a pick-up and play title that allows you and your friends to choose from five classes of starships, go online and command different types of ships, like the Fighter, the Flagship, the Bomber, the Support Frigate, or the Missile Cruiser. With every ship class offering their own strengths and capabilities, each choice will provide a different experience, the game’s publishers suggest.

The full system requirements have also been disclosed publicly. For those eager to download and play the game, Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard or higher is required to run on the Intel Mac they own (Intel Core Duo Processor), as well as 2GB of RAM, ATI X1600 or NVIDIA 8600 GT graphics (or greater), and 450MB of hard disk space. The game is not supported on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) Macs, or on Intel integrated video cards.
