As promised, the developers of Sparrow have produced an updated version adding a ton of new features and bug fixes in what is a must-have update for all existing users of the intuitive mail client for Macs.

The email app now features support for the POP standard for the first time, adds the ability to quickly save a draft by hitting Esc (escape) on Quick Reply, an Empty-spam feature, as well as a unified inbox showing starred, sent, drafts, etc.

The Composer tab toggle now works for selecting the sending account, and users can pull to refresh the list of starred messages / unread messages / priority messages. Finally, they can use the Shift-cmd-option-M hotkey to toggle Extended Sidebar.

In addition to improving the app’s startup time, the developers included numerous bug fixes in Sparrow 1.6, such as: fixed avatar behavior; improved charset decoding; remove flickering when message list is empty; fixed scrollers behavior in sidebar, and more.
