A new version of the well-known Skype VoIP app for Windows is now available for download, bringing several bug fixes and performance improvements.

According to the Skype team, this new build is actually a maintenance release “which brings to you a set of quality and performance related improvements.”

The official changelog points to plenty of bug fixes supposed to repair reported issues affecting snapshots, file transfers, accessibility, profiles, avatars and localization.

The new Skype 6.3 can be downloaded and installed on all Windows versions currently on the market, including the recently released Windows 8, but only to be used in the desktop mode. The Metro version of Skype for Windows 8 is yet to be updated, as Microsoft treats it as a separate project.
