Skype 6.2 is officially out for Mac users bringing a cool eGifting feature which lets you send off credit to anyone on their birthday, as well as a one-way SMS function, which allows users to send messages without having their phone number verified.

eGifting allows a Skype user to send a gift of credit to anyone they care about on their birthday, according to the Skype team. Another new feature in Skype 6.2 for Mac is “one-way SMS,” which lets you send off messages without having your phone number checked.

“Now you can send one-way SMS without having to add and verify your mobile number,” writes Beom Soo Park on the official Skype blog.

Some resolved issues are also mentioned in the release notes, including one where the file transfer progress bar will disappear after completion when downloading multiple files selectively.

Also worth noting is that free users looking to screen-share while sending video can now do so immediately after choosing to “Continue with free call.”
