Music fans using Shazam to discover new music on their iDevices will be delighted to learn that the developers are out with a brand new update that enhances everything from the user interface to the accessibility options.

Shazam 5.5 gains a cool new interface featuring an updated listening screen, an updated blue Shazam dial (replacing the “sweep” function) that responds to music, and larger album artwork.

“Now, when looking at new tag results for music or TV ads or shows, the artwork is larger and more engaging, improving the rich media results as well as providing users with easy-to-access buttons to listen to a sample and purchase from iTunes,” says Shazam Entertainment.

The app boasts automatic resubmission support which means if you lose your signal you’ll no longer have to manually resubmit your tags when reception is back full blast.

Shazam will even give you a handy pop-up in Notification Center letting you know what’s going on.

The new version also brings My Tag Search with new search functions for finding specific tags with a search by name, title, tag date or location.

Shazam users have been asking for more sharing features, and the developers have been listening. Today’s update puts Google+, Facebook and Twitter ties right inside Shazam.

A Magic Tap feature targets customers with poor eye sight. “People who are visually impaired now can start tagging immediately by simply doing a two-finger double-tap from anywhere in the Shazam App, when VoiceOver is enabled,” Shazam Entertainment explains.

Lastly, all versions of Shazam for iOS come with unlimited tagging, says the changelog.

Shazam is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) or iPad (2nd generation or newer). It requires iOS 6.0 or later and has been optimized for iPhone 5.
