14 DAY TRIAL // Wulven Game Studios, a Vietnamese game development studio, has announced the release of Santa Slaughter, a free, 3D first-person-shooter shooter for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Players jump in the boots of Santa himself who is strangely equipped with a high-caliber gun ready to blast anyone that comes in sight. The title is also available on Facebook, according to its makers.
“Santa's village is under attack, and it's up to him to stop the evil monsters in this action-packed 3D First Person Shooter,” Wulven Game Studios states. “Featuring easy gameplay, whimsical opponents and a colorful setting, Santa Slaughter is the ideal way to get you in the holiday spirit.”
Santa Slaughter supports both the iPhone 4 Retina Display, and the high resolution iPad screen. The title also sports Game Center support for achievements and leader boards.
Wulven Game Studios claims to have developed Santa Slaughter after being inspired by top shooting games such as Modern Combat.
According to the Vietnamese developer, Santa Slaughter combines a traditionally happy setting with delightfully evil monsters.
The entire game’s concept is strange, to say the least - Santa with a gun; a mystery Santa chick at the loading screen - but it’s worth giving a try on an idle Sunday.
"This just might be the best looking free Christmas game out there," claimed Wulven CEO Kyle Poole.
"When your Candy Shop is burning down and there's a monster shooting fireballs at you, whip out your machine gun and let the slaughter begin! It's a blast to play, and competing with other players world-wide for the top score can be quite challenging," Poole added.
Santa Slaughter is free to download and play on any iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS 3.0 or later. The title has already received an update since it makers rolled out the initial 1.0 version.
Santa Slaughter 1.1 sports improved game speed and contains fixes to some rendering issues, Wulven says.
Wulven is hoping that, by releasing a quality iOS game for free, the studio will be able to build up a solid user base to promote their other titles. For example, Wulven has a trading card game, Shadow Era, scheduled for release early next year.
