Registered Apple developers this week received new OS X betas, but also a new Safari 6.1 test build. Labeled as Seed 7, the software is provided “for testing and development purposes.”

Safari 6.1 Seed 7 is not fully localized (which means you’ll probably have to brush up on those English skills) and requires OS X 10.8.4 Mountain Lion. For OS X Lion (10.7) testing, Security Update 2013-002 is also required.

Web developers are asked to test their extensions for compatibility with Safari 6.1, but they are also invited to glance at all the new enhancements included in the build, such as the new Web Inspector (which has a new look with a streamlined toolbar).

Developers who discover problems with the build are asked to submit a bug report using the online Bug Reporter at http://bugreporter.apple.com. Safari 6.1 Seed 7 is a free download from the Mac Dev Center on Apple’s Developer web site.
