In tandem with several other betas, this week Apple rolled out Safari 6.1 Seed 6, a pre-release version of the company’s web browser for developers using OS X Mountain Lion and / or OS X Lion.
Safari 6.1 for Mountain Lion requires OS X 10.8.4, whereas on Lion installations developers must have Security Update 2013-002 installed, according to people who are familiar with the software.
The new version of Safari is currently under development and, therefore, is inaccessible to the general population.
It includes a new Sidebar for accessing Bookmarks, Reading List, Shared Links, etc.; a Continuous Reading function; easier ways to Retweet; redesigned Top Sited; the Safari Power Saver, which conserves energy by playing only the pug-in content that’s front and center on the page; third party data blocking; Yandex search; more sandboxing; a new WebKit engine; High DPI for image-set, and more.
To grab the new Safari seed, developers must log in with their credentials over at the Mac Dev Center.
