A new version of the full-featured movie converter, player and editor for Mac OS X, ReelBean, is now available from
JS8 Media. ReelBean is capable of playing almost any Mac-supported video and audio format, and supports the use of third-party plugins that make proprietary formats available.
Last month, JS8 Media announced that, with the release of ReelBean 4.32, the Chapter panel could be resized. The company also reduced memory usage and added Snow Leopard support to the program. Version 4.4 of the software (the newest yet) adds the Save Frame button to the toolbar and includes minor bug fixes, according to the developer.
Besides offering options to play around with various formats, ReelBean boasts video-editing features as well, and allows you to separate video from audio, split movies, or playback at a slower or faster rate. You have the ability to play your original DVD movies using the same features, and even stream videos that you can record and save to your Mac. You can access the window menu to navigate and select scenes and chapters available for a video, and choose just the parts that interest you. The Scene Selection feature also lets you jump to a scene by double-clicking it.
If you need to adjust sound settings, such as the bass and treble, you can, using ReelBean. Video settings include numerous options like brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, transparency, trim selection and even play rate (only for playback). Finally, if you’re looking for a powerful, universal video-conversion program, the 15-dollar app can also assist you in converting videos from and to many popular formats, including all iPod-, iPhone- and Apple TV-supported formats, as well as 3GP, AIFF, FLC, AVI, Wave and MPEG-4.
Supported on Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard, as well as Intel and PowerPC processors, ReelBean is available for download using the link below. Also, hit up the second link to read our detailed review of the program.
