It brings great visuals to your PC's desktop background
With all the fuss around the release of Windows 8 Consumer Preview, one might have believed that Microsoft started to forget about delivering new goodies to its Windows 7 users. However, it appears that this is not so, and that the Redmond-based software giant is providing more customization capabilities to the older platform as well.
Among these, we can count a new theme designed for all computers that run under the Windows 7 operating system, called Rainbows.
It features high-resolution imagery of rainbows over forests, mountains, hills and plains, so that users would enjoy an impressive combination of colors and landscapes straight on their computer’s desktops. It even has an image of double rainbows and at least one guy will appreciate their beauty.
All that users would need to do to benefit from this visual delight is to hit the download link below and install the theme.
“Legend promises gold at the end of the rainbow, but in our free Windows 7 theme the prize is the rainbow itself,” Microsoft notes in the theme’s description.
“Bring the fleeting magic of rainbows to your desktop and enjoy shimmering hues and otherworldly arrays of color poised over stunning landscapes from around the world.”
According to Microsoft, the theme is meant to work with all computers that run under Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate editions.
However, we installed the theme on a PC running Windows 8 Consumer Preview, and it appears to work without issues, although not specifically designed for it.
Those of you who have already downloaded and installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on a compatible device can enjoy a theme meant exclusively for this OS flavor, namely the Nightfall and Starlight panoramic theme.
Both the Windows 8 Consumer Preview and the aforementioned Nightfall and Starlight theme for it can be downloaded from Softpedia, on this page and via this link, respectively.
The new Rainbows Theme for Windows 7 is available on Softpedia as well, via this page.
