The powerful audio processor known as REAPER has been promoted to version 4.58 RC 1, which includes a few changes that are set to make their way into the final version.

Released earlier today, REAPER 4.58 RC 1 is available for both Mac and Windows with an identical set of changes, touching areas like rendering, API, and VST.

As far as rendering is concerned, developer Cockos Incorporated has updated the render dialog for situations involving media item selection. On the API front, the new version includes functions to get or set the region render matrix.

Other changes are listed below (from the official changelog).

Region render matrix: actions to mark master track, all tracks, selected tracks to be rendered Render: don't try to render empty media items VST: informing of track channel count changing is a per-plugin compatibility setting (disabled by default).

Download REAPER for Mac OS X or download REAPER for Windows and test out its features in trial mode for a full two months, or update to the new version for free if you're an existing user. Be careful as this new version is not final, so you should keep any important projects away from it.
