One of Apple’s top-downloaded Mac App Store apps, RAR Extractor Free is a specialized application capable of unarchiving RAR files, as well as other types of archives, completely free of charge.

The reason RAR Extractor is free is that 1) it only extracts (doesn’t create archives) and 2) it’s ad-supported. But if you’re on the lookout for an easy way to extract some archives you’ve just downloaded that OS X can’t handle, RAR Extractor is just what you need.

In addition to RAR archives, RAR Extractor can also decompress Zip, Tar, 7-Zip, Gzip, and Bzip2 files. Other “key features” include support for password-protected archives, batch extracting, drag and drop functionality, and three handy options to automatically exit / open folder / delete archive once the extraction is complete.

Download RAR Extractor Free from the Mac App Store today and give it a go. You’ll need a Mac running OS X 10.6.6 and a 64-bit processor to use it.
