14 DAY TRIAL // Apple has issued an update for Final Cut Studio 2 users. Introducing Color 1.0.4, the new release includes other changes affecting Final Cut Pro, Compressor, Shake, and more. Color is the newest of the application updates included in the Pro Applications 2008-05 package.
Apple encourages users of Final Cut Studio to get the updates, as 2008-05 is a revision to Final Cut Studio 2.0. “This update includes Color 1.0.4. The software addresses general performance issues and improves overall stability,” the company says.
Among the updates included in the 2008-05 package there is a Final Cut Pro version 6.0.5 that addresses specific issues, such as improved rendering of still images and footage in high-resolution formats. It also adds the ability to capture the additional metadata for footage recorded with the Panasonic AG-HMC150 professional AVCHD camcorder, as well as the extended metadata that is available with P2 cards. Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 additionally improves reliability when importing files from the Panasonic HDC-SD9 camcorder.
Compressor 3.0.5 fixes an issue in Mac OS X Leopard that caused existing QuickClusters to be removed when the Back to My Mac feature was enabled, while Shake 4.1.1 addresses general performance problems and improves overall stability. The rest of the updates deal with specific customer issues and general performance problems, improving overall stability and compatibility.
Minimum system requirements for all applications include a Mac with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4, PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor, 1GB of RAM, an AGP or PCI Express Quartz Extreme graphics card (Final Cut Studio is not compatible with integrated Intel graphics processors), a display with 1024-by-768 resolution or higher, OS X 0.4.11 / 10.5.5 or later, QuickTime 7.5.5 or later, and a DVD drive for installation.
