Download PowerPivot for Excel 2010 Samples

With the latest iterations of SharePoint Server, Office Excel and SQL Server, Microsoft has kicked up a notch the Business Intelligence capabilities associated with its products. PowerPivot, formerly codenamed Project Gemini, is the BI bridge between SharePoint Server 2010, Office Excel 2010 and SQL Server 2008 R2, a new technology that customers need to discover and run. In this regard, Microsoft is making it easier for companies that want to leverage the new BUI capabilities brought to the table by PowerPivot and is offering a couple of downloads designed to show the power of the BI add-in for Excel 2010.

The Microsoft PowerPivot for Excel 2010 Data Analysis Expressions Sample version 1.0 and the Microsoft PowerPivot for Excel 2010 Samples are currently available via the company’s Download Center. The PowerPivot for Excel 2010 Samples are examples of the types of reports that customers running PowerPivot and Excel 2010 can create.

“This PowerPivot for Excel 2010 Samples .exe file contains three Business Intelligence samples: PowerPivot Healthcare Audit.xlsx, PowerPivot Tutorial Sample.xlsx, LCA BI - Financial Report Usage.xlsx. These PowerPivot workbooks provide examples on how PowerPivot can be used to import data, create relationships, create calculated columns and measures, and add PivotTables, slicers and PivotCharts,” Microsoft noted.

Similarly, the Microsoft PowerPivot for Excel 2010 Data Analysis Expressions Sample version 1.0 is set up to offer a workbook allowing users to get an insight into DAX calculations. “This PowerPivot for Excel 2010 DAX Samples .exe file contains two files: Contoso Samples DAX Formulas.xlsx, Data Analysis Expressions in PowerPivot for Excel 2010.docx. This PowerPivot workbook illustrates the data analysis expressions (DAX) discussed in the included whitepaper,” the company added.

Obviously, in order to be able to leverage the samples offered as free downloads by Microsoft, customers will need both Office Excel 2010 and the Microsoft PowerPivot for Excel 2010 add-in installed.
