A few days ago, Electronic Arts announced that its Plants vs. Zombies 2 smash hit for Android devices would receive a major update called “Far Future” very soon.

True to its promise, EA has just released the hotly anticipated update, which will allow Android users to play into the future. Up until now, Plants vs Zombies 2 has only offered players the chance to visit the past, but with the last update, they will have a glimpse into the future.

Unfortunately, the future as shown in the latest update for Plants vs. Zombies 2 is not so bright, so it’s up to players to make it stand their ground against throngs of zombies.

Talking about zombies, EA has confirmed that the Far Future update for Plants vs. Zombies 2 contains no less than 10 new zombies. Sadly, none are described or even mentioned in the changelog, but players will certainly get more details on what these new zombies can do while playing the game.

Apart from the new zombies, developers have also announced that the update includes eight new plants that will help players defeat the attacking zombies. Only three of these new plants are detailed, and here they are.

Citron is an orange that “does a lot of damage to the Mechs throughout Future levels, such as the Robo-Cone Zombie and the Disco-tron 3000.” It is recommended to place Citron on the front lines.

Second in line is the Laser Bean, which, as the name suggests, is a beanie that “pierces through Shield Zombie’s shield, which is a great way to defeat them.”

Last but not least, Star-Fruits plants are meant to shoot stars out all across the board, so players can attack zombies in every row.

But there is more to it. EA has announced that the “Far Future” update also brings a brand new world map, as well as new Power Tiles that can increase Plant Food effects across the board.

It is also worth mentioning that EA has confirmed that it has brought back the Zen Garden, so players can now tend to their garden and be rewarded with extra BOOM in their blooms.

Those who already have the game installed on their devices should check for the update, while new players can now download Plants vs. Zombies 2 for Android 2.1.1 for free via Google Play Store. Keep in mind that Plants vs. Zombies 2 should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.3 and up.
