Ndemic Creations’ Plague Inc. has scored 15 million downloads in the iTunes App Store and caught the attention of Columbia’s Center for Infection and Immunity.

An ingenious game where you pick a type of virus, a country, and start an epidemic with hopes to wipe out humanity, Plague Inc. lets you select all types of criteria based on which your virus can multiply and spread across the world, including climate, geography, tourism, etc.

Released in May of 2012, Plague Inc. instantly topped the iTunes charts thanks to its original gameplay scheme and a unique mix of high strategy and realistic simulation. It even caught the eye of the CDC.

The app also helps everyone learn how certain types of disease spread, what the deal with antibiotic resistance is, where a certain country is, etc. You can download Plague Inc. for iPhone and iPad on iOS 4.3, meaning almost every iDevice currently in circulation is supported.
