Multi-protocol instant messaging application Pidgin increased the version number recently to build 2.10.7. The fresh revision addresses a slew of problems and adds plenty of improvements touching on overall functionality of the program.

Libpurple specific modifications include eliminating a crash that occurred when receiving UPnP responses with values much longer than ordinary.

As far as supported protocols are concerned, the developer added support for SASL authentication in the case of IRC, eliminated a crash at startup caused by large contact list when Gadu-Gadu was used, and repaired SSL certificate issue when signing into MSN.

On the same note, the team working on the program worked on removing the problem with retrieving server-side buddy aliases on Yahoo.

Among the changes on Windows version of the application, there is a more secure download of GTK+ Runtime and Debug Symbols. Also, a number of dependencies have been updated and in some cases security fixes have been applied.
