Remember the Ambify app we showed you earlier today. It’s coded with the help of Philips’ new iOS SDK (Software Development Kit) which makes it possible to develop apps that can control the company’s Hue smart light bulbs.

The Dutch company made the news official today via a press statement along with a download link to the Hue SDK which “allows consumers to create and control their light bulbs using a smartphone or tablet,” according to the announcement.

Philips not only rolled out guides and libraries inside the iOS software developer’s kit, the Dutch company also published Hue’s open application programming interfaces (APIs) to show its commitment to help the developer community take advantage of its colorful Hue smart-bulbs.

“This move opens the playing field for third party developers to create new, exciting applications using light, enabling Hue to communicate with a variety of devices and applications (apps),” said the company.
