CD Projekt RED has announced the immediate availability of Patch 1.6.1 for The Witcher: Enhanced Edition for Macs. The update addresses some known issues with the game and improves graphics. Additionally, gamers using older Macs will notice a considerable improvement in performance. Specifically designed for the Mac installment of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, Patch 1.6.1 should resolve problems with memory allocation resulting in crashes and “Out of memory!” messages, according to the developers.
Tests carried out by the engineers at CD Projekt RED have showed performance improvements of 30% to 80%, “depending on the computer's components.”
Some “major improvements” have been made in the rendering department, especially where graphics effects are used.
The developers promise that most of the crashes occurring during locations' loading have been fixed, and that “a small, yet noticeable performance improvement has been achieved, especially on older Macs.”
