Pandora Media has released Pandora Radio 4.4 for iPhone and iPad users, an updated version of the company’s music application which directly competes with Apple’s own iTunes Radio.

Users who don’t have a strong wireless connection will be extremely happy to learn that Pandora Radio 4.4 improves playback buffering “to keep your favorite music stutter-free,” according to the release notes.

The new app now pauses the music when the user mutes his / her device, and all the URLs that work on Pandora.com are now supported on both iPhone and iPad. The usual bag of fixes and improvements is included as well, “to keep your music playing as it should.”

According to the System Requirements up on iTunes, Pandora only needs iOS 3.0 to run, which means that even the original iPhone and iPod touch can still handle it.
