The PS3 Media Server, an intuitive DLNA-compliant media server for the Sony PlayStation 3 written in Java, has been promoted to version 1.82.0 today.

The changelog is chock-full of geeky details about the various bugs they’ve managed to address in this release, so I’m not going to bore everyone with the Java terminology.

A few noteworthy changes include a couple of VLC tweaks, one of which is a fix for looping playback, the other being multi-threading support.

Thanks to a community member named SubJunk, the team was also able to fix 24-bit FLAC support with tsMuxeR. An issue with VirtualBox and PMS launchers is also addressed in version 1.82.0.

Perhaps more importantly, the update fixes image transcoding and adds support for more extensions.
