14 DAY TRIAL // A new flavor of the Microsoft Outlook Social Connector Provider for Facebook is now available for download from the Redmond-based company’s servers.
The latest version of the app is 14.0.4730.1010 and should deliver a series of improvements in the performance area, although Microsoft did not offer a specific change log for it.
For those out of the loop, we should note that the Microsoft Outlook Social Connector Provider for Facebook enables users to connect their accounts on the social networking site with their Outlook Social Connector.
Thus, they can easily retrieve information on their friends and colleagues. With this application, status updates and recently posted items will be easily accessible.
“Connect your Facebook account to the Outlook Social Connector and stay up to the minute with the people in your network by accessing everything from e-mail threads to status updates in one single, centralized view,” Microsoft explains.
The Outlook Social Connector will also offer users the possibility to display a quick view of related Outlook content when clicking on an email from a contact. Thus, e-mail conversations, meetings, and shared attachments will always be at hand to offer easy tracking of communications.
“The Microsoft Outlook Social Connector Provider requires Microsoft Outlook Social Connector and the related update (KB983403) to be installed,” Microsoft notes.
“If these components are not already installed on your machine, the Microsoft Outlook Social Connector Provider for Facebook will download and install the necessary updates from the Microsoft Download Center before completing the provider installation.”
The application offers compatibility with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP SP3. To take advantage of its capabilities, you’ll have to have Microsoft Outlook 2010, Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 or Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 installed on your computer.
