Hot on the heels of yesterday's releases, Opera has pushed the Release Candidate version of its upcoming Opera 11.50. Since the browser maker was confident enough in the latest builds, the final release should be coming soon.

Opera 11.50 "Swordfish" Release Candidate 1 is available in two flavors, either as an Opera Next build which can be installed alongside a regular Opera install, or as a traditional RC which will replace any existing Opera browser on your computer.

"This is Opera 11.50 'Swordfish' Release Candidate 1," Opera announced. "At this point we are mainly interested in serious bugs or regressions. If a bug is not severe enough to be a potential release blocker, we would appreciate it if you could hold off on commenting on it until after 11.50 final has been released," it explained.

If you've been following the development of Opera 11.50 so far, the changes in the RC are small, only bug fixes and this will be the case until the final build is made available.

In fact, much bigger changes were introduced yesterday when the Opera Featherweight project, or rather the first stage, was merged into the Opera 11.50 Beta.

A short while ago Opera introduced the Next program, or channel, special Opera experimental builds that could be installed alongside a regular Opera release, similar to the Canary builds for Google Chrome.

This enables users to have the latest and greatest Opera running on their computers, but also have a stable build at hand if the experimental one is misbehaving.

Opera 11.50 RC1 is made available as an Opera Next release, if you don't want to replace your existing install, but it is also made available as a traditional release. However, Opera does not recommend that you replace your current install just yet.
