14 DAY TRIAL // UPDATE: Opera 11.50 Release Candidate 5 (RC5) is now also available for download.
A new testing release of Opera 11.50 codenamed Swordfish is now available for download to early adopters. Offered to testers at the end of the past week, Opera 11.50 Release Candidate 4 (RC4) signals the proximity of the final v11.50.
In fact, in the space of just four days last week, Opera Software produced no less than four Release Candidate builds of Opera 11.50.
Users that follow the Opera development process and release cycle undoubtedly can already smell the Opera 11.50 Final downloads, although, as usual, the Norway-based browser vendor has not offered any clue as to when exactly it plans to offer codename Swordfish to the public.
“This is the fourth Swordfish (11.50) release candidate. Once again there are not many changes but careful testing by you is still needed,” revealed Ruarí Ødegaard, from the Opera Desktop Team.
“In the last RC quite a few of you were concerned about the removal of the arrow in the address field drop down, so we have now provided a preference setting to bring it back (though it remains off by default).”
Ødegaard invited testers to provide feedback to Opera on the RC Build, as the company is working to wrap up the browser.
“At this stage only critical release blockers are being considered for 11.50, so if an issue you noticed doesn't fall into this category please hold off from [sending feedback](or take your feedback to the forums). This makes it much easier for the team here to quickly gather useful information,” he added.
As was the case with the first Release Candidate development milestone of Opera 11.50 there are two flavors which can be tested.
Testers can continue grabbing the Opera Next version of Opera 11.50 codenamed Swordfish RC4, which will install alongside any finalized release of the browser they’re running.
At the same time, they can also just download the Opera 11.50 RC, which will replace any existing Opera installation.
