14 DAY TRIAL // The latest development snapshot of Opera 11.10 codenamed Barracuda takes Speed Dial to a whole new level, with the feature having already been kicked up a notch in an earlier Alpha preview. Opera Software made it very clear early on in the development of codenamed Barracuda , that Opera 11.10 would be synonymous with a consistent boost to how users navigate to their favorite online destinations immediately after firing up the browser, or after opening a new Tab / window.
As of Opera 11.10 Barracuda Alpha Build 2018, early adopters can take advantage of zoomable Speed Dial.
“We are still focusing on improving Speed Dial, and here's the next piece of the puzzle! The first thing you should test is zooming in on the Speed Dial page and then add some new Speed Dials,” revealed Alexander Remen, from the Opera Desktop team.
“When that is done, why not try out some of the new options in the configurations dialog? Note that this is still work in progress, so more changes are expected.”
Speed Dial now features a button which streamlines configuration work for users. In addition, customers can now control the number of Speed Dial columns at their disposal, and also introduce custom titles to the feature.
Existing Opera users will undoubtedly notice that a new dialog will enhance their management capabilities in relation to adding and editing Speed Dials.
According to Remen, there are more enhancements in codenamed Barracuda Alpha Build 2018 than just those delivered for Speed Dial.
“We've upgraded Core to Presto 2.8.115 to get some bug fixes and new features, including CSS 3 Multi-column and some polishing of Opera Turbo,” he explains.
“On the mail side, we've added support for phrase searching, which will also improve CJK searches in mail.
“Use quotes in the search field and it searches for phrases like you are used to in other search engines. There are also various bug fixes for the mail panel, eg when drag-and-dropping.”
