Test a variety of bug fixes

A new development snapshot of Opera 10.60 is now available for download and testing. The focus with Build 3409 is on resolving various problems affecting the browser. However, Opera 10.60 Alpha Build 3409 continues to be pre-release software, and, as such, it comes with inherent problems, making it “unfit” for deployment in production environments. “A new batch of bug fixes is ready for testing. Pay particular attention to URL and file encoding/decoding, and watch for regressions there,” a member of the Opera Desktop team stated.

Opera 10.60 was introduced at the end of May 2010, as a minor update to Opera 10.50, which was released earlier this year. Version 10.60 of the browser is still in deployment, with a few snapshots already released to testers. According to Opera Software, Opera 10.60 offers enhanced performance, graphical user interface tweaks and a plethora of bug fixes.

A key part of any testing process is the feedback provided by early adopters. Opera 10.60 makes no exception to this rule, with testers highlighting various problems to the browser vendor on the Opera Desktop team blog. Opera Software asked early adopters running the pre-release builds of Opera 10.60 to make sure that they filtered their input as much as possible in order to help the company when it needed to tackle issues.

“Please try to keep comments on-topic, relevant, and brief. Avoid repeating things, and take discussions to the forums or private messages. It is not necessary to quote the full comment if you do find it necessary to respond to someone. Too many comments can make it difficult for us to keep on top of things, and that means that we could miss out on important problem reports,” the Opera Desktop team representative said.
