Final bits will drop soon

The next update to Opera 10.50 is now one step closer to general availability. Opera Software has made available for download a Release Candidate build of Opera 10.52, indicating that it is on the verge of wrapping up development, and going live with the final bits. At this point in time, the Norwegian browser marker has yet to reveal a specific GA deadline for Opera 10.52, and it most probably won’t, until the day of the actual launch.

Opera 10.52 Build 3366 is currently available for download for Windows users, with additional development snapshots offered for testers running Mac and Linux. Even ahead of the finalization of Opera 10.50, Opera Software prioritized Windows development, leaving Mac OS X and Linux flavors of the browser lag behind. Still, the company is doing its best to provide synchronized releases of testing versions, even though they are at different stages of development.

“Mac has reached final quality for its first final release of Evenes! We are going for a release of Opera 10.52 on Mac and Windows soon. Linux is getting ready for their first beta of Evenes too. So we are seeing great progress on all platforms,” Daniel Aleksandersen, from the Opera Desktop team, revealed.

Although being extremely close to the finish line, the Opera 10.52 development process is very much an ongoing race. This means that the browser continues to be in pre-release stage, and that users not comfortable with testing Beta and RC software should stick with Opera 10.51. One of the issues that Opera Software has yet to fix are ‘never-stops-loading on some pages’ in some scenarios, according to Aleksandersen. Of course, at the same time, the RC label indicates that Opera 10.52 is now closer than ever to being released, and that GA is just around the corner.
