14 DAY TRIAL // Opera 10.0 Final is already available for download since September 1st, 2009, but there is another version 10 of the browser under development. Moving onward with the building of Opera, the Norway-based Opera Software has produced a fresh development milestone of v10.10. While the final release of Opera 10.0 has hit the download pipes for approximately 10 days, Opera 10.10 continues to be in Beta stage. The latest snapshot of Opera 10.10 Unite Beta, Build 1778, has been released today, September 10th, 2009 and is currently available for download.
“Another round of 10.10 with Unite for you. The Unite UI has gotten more love in several languages - international strings should fit in better now. In addition, many crash fixes and a few tweaks to favicon handling. Webfonts should also behave better now, please test! Known Issues: IPv6 is not working on Mac,” revealed Tommy A. Olsen, from the Opera Desktop team.
Opera 10.10 is a release superseding Opera 10.0, packing the browser plus the Opera Unite strategy at the base of the company’s One Web vision and strategy. Olsen noted that there are a range of enhancements introduced with Opera 10.10 Unite Beta Build 1778, some platform specific, targeting Windows, Mac OS X or UNIX, while others generalized, having to deal with Opera Unite, the graphical user interface, and the core of the browser.
Still, it is important to note that Opera 10.10 continues to be in development, and that users looking for stability and reliability first of all might be happier with Opera 10.0. “This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all,” Olsen added.
Opera 10.10 Unite Beta Build 1778 is the second development milestone of v10.10 delivered after the general availability of Opera 10.0. The previous Opera 10.10 with Unite release was made available at the start of this week.
