On the way to the next major version of its browser, Opera Software still has to deal with wrapping up and delivering version 10.10 to the general public. Fortunately enough, the Norway-based browser maker is now one step closer to finalizing Opera 10.10 with Unite. Today, November 13th, the first Release Candidate development milestone of Opera 10.10 has been made available for download, with the browser maker taking a critical step towards the final availability of v10.10.

And apparently Opera Software is oblivious to the ill-fortune inherently associated with the Friday 13th myth. “This lucky build was born on Friday 13th! As luck would have it, it became an RC for Opera 10.10. That means that you are lucky enough to get to report any critical bugs, regressions, and so on, before we release it,” revealed a member of the Opera Desktop team.

With the availability of the RC Build, Opera 10.10 takes a key turn in the development process, a milestone which signals the proximity of the final release. At the time of this article, Opera Software had yet to make public the delivery deadline for the finalized Opera 10.10 Build. “This no longer installs in the snapshot/beta path, so watch out for that or you could quickly run out of luck. (The default startup page still says beta, and that is because as far as the rest of the world is concerned, the latest official version of 10.10 is a beta),” the Opera Desktop team representative added.

Opera 10.10 RC brings to the table various enhancements, including to the core of the browser, but also to the graphical user interface, and to the Opera Unite technology which is included by default. “It contains the latest changes, but should be stable enough for release. But as an RC, it could be unlucky enough to be pulled if any serious issues are found,” the browser maker underlined.

Opera 10.10 Release Candifate (RC) is available for download here.

In some cultures, 13 is considered a lucky number, maybe Norwegian culture is one of them.
