Opera Software has released a new beta version of its popular cross-platform web browser. For Mac users, Opera 10.0 Build 6526 Beta delivers UI improvements (on top of the major refresh added last month), as well as changes with the Mail client and the usual laundry of bug fixes. Full details are available below.

For those interested in every aspect of this release, the changelog for Opera 10.0 Beta Build 6526 is available here. Noteworthy UI additions include: changed name of "Transfers" to "Downloads;" tweaks to the windows’ native skin; added Turbo warning icon and an Open Folder button to file browse control. A bug plaguing Mail in Opera described as "when you reply to a message the cursor is invisible," has been addressed as well. Mac-specific changes, according to Opera Software, include:

· Fixed Bug DSK-203698 (Aqua skin progressbar display issues).
· Partial Fix of Bug DSK-255214 (White artifact cover entire page when reloading using Reload button).
· Fixed Bug DSK-256977 (Missing background styling for dropdown menus at play.com).
· Fixed Bug DSK-256991 (Opacity related crash).

Softpedia fans may remember that, at the end of May, Opera Software released Opera 10 Beta 1 for Mac, adding fresh, new thumbnail tabs, a Turbo feature that "cures the bandwidth blues," more speed dials, and an updated Presto engine. Speaking about the new Opera Turbo feature in particular, the development team revealed last moth that those still stuck on dial-up, or using crowded Wi-Fi hot spots, could benefit from Opera Turbo's state-of-the-art compression technology, which "unclogs your connection so you can get to your content." According to the official report, "Opera Turbo easily delivers 3x to 4x the speed of slower connections and can offer broadband-like speeds on dial-up."

The main changes added with last month’s release (incorporated with the Opera version available today) include an updated engine (more than 40% faster Opera Presto 2.2 engine with cutting-edge Web Standards support), Opera Turbo (for fast browsing on slow connections), new visual tabs (with support for thumbnails of your current open tabs), a new skin, an updated Speed Dial feature (with support for 2x2 to 5x5 Speed Dials and configurable background image), a new spell checker, support for external Webfeed, Web mail and BitTorrent clients, resizable search fields, automatic updates and a Report tool for browser crashes.
