Apple has released a new developer preview of OS X Mavericks, the company’s upcoming refresh to the Mac operating system set for release this fall.

Provided to registered Apple developers for testing and development purposes, the beta build is labeled “13A558,” a reference which testers need to mention in their bug reporting.

Apple cautions that the installation of OS X Mavericks Developer Preview 6 could fail in certain conditions. If so, developers must try using Disk Utility from a Recovery HD to repair the disk.

But before they can do that, developers must also note that DP6 can only be installed via Mavericks DP4 (or newer) through Software Update, after redeeming a code from the Mac Dev Center.

OS X Mavericks Developer Preview 6 supports the same Macintosh models as the betas before it, starting with Mid-2007 iMacs.
