Developers enrolled with Apple are being offered a new Mavericks beta for testing purposes, featuring unchanged focus areas and no known issues.

OS X 10.9.1 is the first maintenance update scheduled for OS X Mavericks, the latest version of Apple’s desktop operating system.

The system update is mainly geared towards fixing bugs, with the latest build (13B40) exhibiting no known issues, as far as Apple is concerned.

According to people who are familiar with the new version, focus areas include Safari, Mail, Graphics Drivers, and VoiceOver.

As usual, Apple instructs developers to thoroughly test the focus areas for bugs: “This build is being provided to you for testing and development purposes. Should you encounter any problems, please submit a bug report using the online Bug Reporter at bugreporter.apple.com,” the company says, according to a developer with access to the release notes.

Registrants to the Apple Developer program can download OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 Build 13B40 using the Mavericks Seed Configuration Utility, which can be obtained from the Mac Dev Center.

Testers who already have the “OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility” installed can simply choose “Software Update” from the Apple menu and wait for Build 13B40 to pop out.

Newcomers must first download the “OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility,” run the installer, allow the Mac App Store to launch (itself), click on the Updates, and choose the latest version of OS X Mavericks (in this case, 10.9.1) for installation.

After performing this initial installation, testers will continue to receive notifications to update from the Mac App Store whenever a new build is available for download.

Users can simply click the notification to begin the installation, while new seed notes will always be posted in the Mac Dev Center (in case the tester misses out on a notification).

Developers who wish to stop receiving new seed builds must go to the Software Update Preference in System Preferences and press the Change button where it says “Your computer is set to receive pre-release Software Update seeds.”
