OS X Lion 10.7.4 Build 11E35 has been seeded to developers for testing, people familiar with Apple’s software report. Even though the seed notes don’t mention any known issues, it is hard to estimate a release date for the final build.

“OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 is an update to OS X Lion 10.7,” reads the change log.

Apple informs testers that the OS X Lion 10.7.4 Combo update applies to OS X Lion 10.7, 10.7.1 or 10.7.2, 10.7.3 GM or any other previous 10.7.4 seed builds, whereas the OS X Lion 10.7.4 Delta Update goes onto OS X Lion 10.7.3 GM or any other previous 10.7.4 seed builds.

Developers are urged to keep in mind that, once they install this build, they will no longer be able to revert to their previous system. Hence, testing should be done “on a system you are prepared to erase if necessary,” Apple says.

As noted above, the seed notes mention zero known issues, which is always a good indication that development is following a smooth course. While this aspect has sometimes been indicative of an upcoming release, the issue-free nature of Apple’s latest OS X betas makes it difficult to assess the situation.

Focus areas include the App Store, Graphics, iCal, Mail, and QuickTime.

The seed notes continue with Apple asking testers to submit their bug reports at <http://bugreporter.apple.com/> whilst making sure to include “10.7.4 (11E35)” in the bug title and description. According to the Cupertino giant, “this information will ensure that your bug is processed quickly.”

“When submitting a bug report, please make sure to include a Summary, Steps to Reproduce, Actual Results, Expected Results, the System Profile Report, and any other relevant information that is necessary to process the report,” Apple adds.

As usual, Apple mentions that engineering will require additional information for crashing bugs, kernel panics, and hanging problems.
